The Libreng Tawag service in the Araneta bus terminal is part of a group-wide effort among companies belonging to the Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and PLDT Group for public assistance during the Lenten season.

Sister-firm, TV5, is taking the lead with its Rescue 5 First Aid Stations, which will be deployed not only in the Araneta bus terminal but also along the North Luzon Expressway this coming week through its Rescue 5 Kaakibat sa Semana Santa project.

Apart from Smart and TV5, Maynilad Water Services and One Meralco Foundation will also be making available free water and electronic device charging services, respectively.

The volume of passengers is expected to surge in key transportation hubs next week as people troop to the provinces in observance of the Holy Week.

With Smart’s libreng tawag service, the public can avail of the free calls at the station while waiting for their buses to depart.

Providing free calls is a staple in Smart’s suite of services under its corporate social responsibility to aid the public not only in times of disasters but also during red-letter holidays such as the observance of the Lenten season as well as to honor dear departed ones during November. [END]
